Billie's Cakes started when I was looking for a birthday cake for my own party. After struggling to find what I was after locally, I bought a few bits of baking equipment and thought I'd give it a crack myself.

Turns out, I absolutely loved it.

With a background in graphic design and a love for cooking, cake decorating turned out to be the perfect little meeting point between food and art.

I never set out to become a professional baker, and I still don't plan to. I just really enjoy making cute, creative cakes and figured if I love doing it this much, why not make them available to others?

So here we are. A little home kitchen in Alexandra, Central Otago, making playful, perfectly imperfect cakes for anyone who needs one.

Nothing too fancy, nothing too serious. Just me, a piping bag and a good excuse to make cake.
